Barefoot Technologies, a provider of browser-based reservation and asset management systems in the vacation rental industry, and Easy Pay Solutions, a provider of secure payment card technologies, today announced a new partnership.
Now, customers using the Barefoot software have a number of available PCI compliant (www.pcisecuritystandards.org) payment card processing solution.
This relationship gives Barefoot software users secure solution without requiring any change to how rental managers enter credit card information. Barefoot will now use Easy Pay’s secure servers which operate “behind the scenes” to store and recall sensitive credit card data. This eliminates storing cardholder data on servers that may not be compliant.
About PCI Security Requirements: On July 1, 2010 the Visa/MasterCard rules for processing credit and debit cards transactions over the Internet change. The PCI Security Standards Council (PCI) was founded by American Express, Discover, JCB, MasterCard, and Visa for the ongoing development, enhancement, storage, dissemination and implementation of security standards for account data protection. As such, it is the PCI that now determines the security rules for capture, transmittal, and storage of credit and debit card transactions.
In addition, all merchants processing credit cards on computers connected to the Internet are now required to have their computers scanned for vulnerabilities quarterly (every 3 months) by a PCI Approved Scanning Vendor (ASV)…and merchants must complete an annual Self Assessment Questionnaire (SAQ). This requirement became effective in 2009 but is now being enforced by Visa/MasterCard. The Easy Pay integration within Barefoot includes the compliance scanning and questionnaire service.
According to the company, Barefoot is committed to providing rental managers with the best tools and partners for their business. “We are very pleased to partner with Easy Pay,” says Ed Ulmer, Director of Business Development, Barefoot. “With the news of data breaches hitting the paper on a regular basis we are pleased to announce that our relationship with Easy Pay will ensure the safe processing of credit card transactions and give our clients choices.”
“We are excited to bring on Barefoot as an integrated partner, we strive to offer our solutions with the best companies in their respective markets. Barefoot is a proven platform in the vacation rental market and we are proud to provide merchant services to their customers,” says Jim Turner, Vice President of Business Development at Easy Pay.
Simultaneously to the Easy Pay partnership, Kaba Ilco, a provider of keyless entry systems announces the successful integration of its Oracode system with Barefoot Technologies reservation software. Through this combined interface, the Oracode’s six-digit PIN code will be automatically generated as part of Barefoot’s reservation service.
